Temporary Resident Visa (Visitor Visa)
The Canadian Temporary Resident Visa (Visitor Visa) program serves as a crucial component of the country's immigration framework, allowing individuals to temporarily reside in Canada for purposes such as tourism, business, family/friend visits, short-term studies*, or as an accompanying applicant. Governed by immigration laws, the Temporary Resident Visa ensures a structured and transparent process for those seeking entry. Applicants must adhere to specific eligibility criteria, which include demonstrating ties to their home country, financial stability, and a clear intent to return after the authorized stay. The program underscores Canada's commitment to maintaining the integrity of its immigration system while providing opportunities for short-term stays that align with the country's economic and social objectives.
*Short Term Study:
You don’t need a study permit for a course or study program that lasts 6 months or less. However, getting a study permit when you don’t need one has benefits, such as being allowed to work or extending your studies duration and program.
You still need a valid travel document (electronic travel authorization or visitor visa) to come to Canada. You must get a study permit if you want to study for longer than 6 months.
